Please complete the following steps to register and obtain an activation code for your product(s). These instructions apply to all products (screenshots of specific products below are generically applicable). Please note that you must have an Internet connection to complete the registration process. Please contact our support team if you do not have an Internet connection or if you require any assistance with your product activation.
Activation Instructions
- Please close Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Locate the email you received from DealMaven with the subject "Your download of [DealMaven Product Name] is ready". Attached to the email will be an order file with the extension “.mvn”.
- Save the order file to ‘C:\Program Files\DealMaven\Orders’. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO OPEN THIS FILE DIRECTLY. Note: The folder path may differ if you chose to install the software in a different directory.
- Please open the Microsoft Office application in which your DealMaven product resides (i.e., for FastTrack, Modeling ToolPack, or XLink, open Microsoft Excel; for PresLink, open PowerPoint and/or Word). You should receive a prompt for each product you’re trying to register asking if you'd like to connect to the Internet. Click the ‘OK’ button for each. You should receive a confirmation that activation was successful for each product.
- Your products should now be fully registered and activated. You can verify this is the case by selecting the ‘Register...’ option from each product menu in Excel, PowerPoint and/or Word. If the registration was successful, a form like the one below will be displayed with your activation code.
If the registration process above was not successful:
1. Please close Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
2. Verify that your order file (with the “.mvn” file extension) has been saved to the ‘C:\Program Files\DealMaven\Orders’ folder specified in your product activation email (see Step 2 above).
3. Open Excel, PowerPoint and/or Word and select the ‘Register...’ option from each of the product menus (‘FastTrack’, ‘Modeling ToolPack’, ‘XLink’, or ‘PresLink’). If your name appears next to the ‘Licensee:’ label, jump to step 4. Otherwise, click on the ‘Browse to DealMaven order file’ link in blue towards the top of the registration form (pictured below) and browse to the “.mvn” order file you saved to your computer. Your name should now appear next to the ‘Licensee:’ label.

4. Click the ‘Register Online’ button at the bottom of the form. If your Internet browser opens automatically, jump to step 5. Otherwise, click on the ‘Copy URL’ button, open an Internet browser (e.g. Internet Explorer) the way you normally do, highlight the address bar, and hit ‘Ctrl+v’. This will paste a long string of characters into your address bar. Hit ‘Enter’.
5. Your activation code should be displayed in your browser. Highlight the activation code with your mouse and copy it using ‘Ctrl+c’.
6. Return to the product registration form (select ‘Register...’ from the product menu to display the form if it is not already displayed) and paste the activation code into the activation code field provided. Click ‘OK’.
7. You should receive a message stating that your product has been registered successfully.

FAQ
Why am I receiving a “Your license to use DealMaven [Product Name] has expired” message?
This means that your product has not been activated yet or your trial period or subscription has expired. If you already purchased the product, simply activate it using the activation instructions above. If you have not yet purchased the product, please go to our website and add the desired product to your cart.
Please note: Our trial products are fully functional, and therefore no uninstallation is necessary. All you need to do is activate the product using the order file we sent you. For further help in purchasing and activating products or subscriptions, please contact our support team.
Why did I not receive an order file with my email?
Some anti-virus systems will strip the order file from the email since it’s a file they don’t recognize and they prefer to err on the side of caution. Contact our support team for another copy of your order file.
Why am I getting an error message saying “This is not a properly formatted DealMaven order file” when I select the order file?
Some anti-virus software can change a file as it scans it; this will cause the activation system to not recognize the file. Contact our support team for another copy of your order file.
Why am I getting an error message saying “The number of licenses has been exceeded?”
DealMaven products are purchased with one license per user; this means it will only allow itself to be registered once. If you feel you’ve received this message in error, or if you’re switching machines and would like to have your DealMaven product license(s) applied to your new machine, please contact our support team.
Why am I getting an error message saying “The order file you have selected is for a different DealMaven product or version and may not be used?”
You are most likely using an order file intended for a product and/or version that is different than the product you are currently trying to activate. If you have multiple order files in your ‘C:\Program Files\DealMaven\Orders’ folder, make sure you selected the appropriate file for the product you’re attempting to activate.
Also, double check the version number specified in the name of your order file against the version of the product you’re trying to activate. You can locate this version number by selecting ‘About DealMaven…’ from the product menu.
